What is 2048?
2048 is an addictive number puzzle game where you slide numbered tiles on a grid to combine them and create larger numbers. The goal is to reach the target tile (typically 2048, but you can choose different targets) by merging tiles with the same number.
This game is based on the popular 2048 game created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014. With 2048.fun, you can customize your experience with different grid sizes (4x4 to 7x7) and target tiles (512 to 16384), offering varying levels of difficulty to challenge players of all skill levels.

Tips & Tricks
- Corner Strategy: Try to keep your highest value tile locked in one corner. Avoid moving it out if possible.
- Limit Directions: If using a corner strategy, primarily use only the two directions towards that corner, plus one perpendicular direction.
- Build Chains: Arrange tiles in descending order next to each other (e.g., 128, 64, 32, 16) along an edge.
- Keep Rows/Columns Full: Try to keep the row or column containing your highest tile full to control new tile spawns.
- Merge Small Tiles Quickly: Don't let 2s and 4s clutter the board. Merge them to create space.
- Think Ahead: Consider where new tiles might appear and how the board will look after your move.
- Be Patient: Don't rush, especially when the board gets crowded.
Game History
The game 2048, upon which this version is based, was created by Italian web developer Gabriele Cirulli in March 2014. It was inspired by several earlier similar games, most notably Veewo Studio's 1024 and the conceptually similar paid game Threes! by Asher Vollmer, Greg Wohlwend, and Jimmy Hinson.
Cirulli released 2048 as a free and open-source game, leading to its rapid spread and the creation of many variations (like this 2048.fun version!) with different grid sizes, target tiles, and themes. The simple yet addictive sliding block puzzle mechanic proved incredibly popular worldwide.
